Hi, and welcome to Inkdrop Lit.

I’m Sarah Welch, and I’m so glad you’re here.

When I was a kid, if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, you’d get one of two answers: professional reader or professional student. I was a huge nerd in those days.

• I’d take school supplies over toys any day.

• The only thing I ever got in trouble for was reading under the covers far past my bedtime.

• I was an avid short story writer, foisting handmade “books” onto any adult who would read them.

Come to think of it, I still am a huge nerd.

Today, I’ve come as close as possible to achieving those childhood goals (in a way that allows me to buy groceries, pay the mortgage, and maintain my sticker collection).

• I have an MA in book publishing from Emerson College and a BA in creative writing and playwriting from Northwestern University.

• I have the privilege of spending my time working with independent authors and publishers to turn initial ideas and first drafts into powerful books that will move readers. (I think that makes me a professional reader!)

• I get to work with entrepreneurs and business leaders of all stripes to tell their company’s stories, through blog posts, white papers, e-books, and other copy, in a way that will turn potential buyers into lifelong customers. Through all of this, I get to learn from experts about subject matters and industries I never would’ve encountered otherwise, making me feel like (you guessed it) a professional student.

Every day I am honored to have become exactly what my elementary school self wanted to be when she grew up, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you on your next writing project.
